My Gut Has Improved

I used to be the guy who suffered from constipation, diarrhoea, and other digestive tract problems. Can you imagine the discomfort and pain it gave me whenever I was outside our house? I had to condition myself to be prepared as it might happen anywhere, in a restaurant, in a party, in a public commute, in a movie theatre, and even on vacation, on a beach, in the mountain, or in a different country. I used to say a lot, “Shit happens.” Thank goodness, those days are now as rare as a four-leaf clover.

When I was a kid I didn’t eat that much vegetables. Aside from carrots, squash, potatoes, and cabbages, everything else had to be forced down my digestive system. Broccoli was one that I particularly didn’t like. It looked too unsavoury for me. I preferred the similar-looking but semi-appealing looking cauliflower. Now, broccoli has become my most favourite vegetable and I often pair it with three eggs as part of my first meal for the day.

Here are the nutrients broccoli has:

  • Vitamin K
  • Vitamin A
  • Vitamin C
  • Fiber
  • Potassium
  • Folate
  • Lutein

Don’t Forget the Science

Cortisol? Leptin? Branch amino acids? I didn’t know any of these before. Testosterone? All I knew was that it’s the male hormone. I didn’t know about its role in muscle growth. Science was in my grasp but I was ignorant to it.

The Internet is filled with abundant information about food, fitness, and nutrition. It’s easy to get suckered into consuming all these information as it makes us feel knowledgeable about these topics.
